DFF will accept any and all surrendered animals purchased from DFF with no questions asked. We understand life happens sometimes and we can't help but to offer our furry friend a chance at a better life. We do Not offer refunds for surrendered animals. We do however offer compensation for all cages, hutch and housing and some feeders or bowls. We do NOT compensate for consumables {food, bedding, hay, treats} as these things should be included with your animal for smooth transition. Compensation for housing is based on many factors including but not limited to retail price, resale price, and condition. Cages purchased from us will be purchased back at 50% of original sale cost. Have cages to sell that you didn't buy from us we will purchase based on size, style, condition, retail price and resale market price at the time.
We run rooster rallies in the winter months. { Nov.-Feb.} We have a general locations in 5 parishes { East Jefferson, St. Charles, St. John, St. Tammany, and Tangipahoa } where roosters can be dropped off. We only make house calls for those surrendering more than 12 at a time. All Roosters will be traded or sold off for a donation to our rescue. Roosters will be placed with farms according to breed and purpose of roosters. Pure breeds go to breeders creating chicks for seasons to come.
{NOTE We don't eat them!} Despite what most think roosters are not good to eat. Hens will go to egg laying home if we are out of room on our farm. Hens over 3 years of age are adopted out to pet homes. We also accept all ducks, turkeys and geese when needed.
DFF will take in any surrendered bunny even if not purchased from DFF. We will come to you and pick up even with no questions asked. We just ask that you include all personal affects from the bunny including housing so the transition to it forever home will go smoothly. We will compensate for house based on condition of housing. Bunnies will go though intake including health check, nail trim, Micro chip, and temperament test to determine if they can be adopted out as pets. We do NOT accept wild rabbits.
Rescue bunnies have a $50.00 adoption fee, and proof of housing requirement. Housing must be purchased before you can pay adoption fee. We want them all to live their best life in the home of their dreams. WE NEVER WANT Animals SET FREE. We try to keep them out of shelters as well. So call us (504) 317 4917 if you need fostering, or surrender.
